A long French garden bench in cast iron and wood, late 19th to early 20th century. Its twin back rails and deep slatted seat are finished in soft white paint, attractively worn with age. The cast iron ends are shaped with volute scrolls and small rosettes, rising to rounded finials above legs that rest on circular pads. The surface shows weathered patina, scattered paint losses, and light oxidation from outdoor use, while the structure remains sturdy and sound.
Once common in parks, promenades, and private estates, these benches combined comfort with decorative presence, marrying durable wooden slats to ornate cast iron profiles influenced by Rococo revival curves and naturalistic motifs.
