The water-resistant 210 denier cover is softer to the touch than coated nylon or vinyl covers. Despite the 210 denier having water-resistant properties, the sewn seams are not as effective at preventing fluid from entering the core of the mattress as thermally bonded seams. Therefore, this mattress should only be used in applications where the risk of contamination from bodily fluids is minimal. The mattress is reversible so that one side is firm and the other is more supple & soft. The 210 denier cover will not crack over time which means the cover will last significantly longer than most standard vinyl covers. The 210 denier cover is easy to clean, soft to the touch, and it has been treated with a special fungistatic agent to protect against fungal growth.
