PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

To achieve the best results and minimize potential side effects, please follow these guidelines before your Restylane treatment:

• Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before any special event to allow for swelling or bruising.• Avoid dental procedures for at least 2 weeks prior to your treatment.• Discontinue Aspirin, NSAIDs, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids for 3–7 days before and after your treatment to reduce bruising. (Consult your physician before stopping prescribed medications.)• Avoid alcohol, caffeine, Niacin supplements, high-sodium foods, refined carbohydrates, spicy foods, and cigarettes for 24–48 hours before and after treatment.• Taking Arnica supplements 2 days prior may help minimize bruising.• Notify your provider if you have a history of cold sores — an antiviral may be prescribed if necessary.• Avoid treatment if you have an active rash, irritation, or infection in the area.• Restylane treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

After your Restylane treatment, you may notice minor redness, swelling, or tenderness. To ensure proper healing and optimal results, follow these steps:

• Redness or sensitivity may last a few hours post-treatment.• Use Tylenol for discomfort — avoid NSAIDs unless instructed.• Avoid pressing, massaging, or manipulating the treated area unless directed by your provider.• Avoid makeup for at least 12 hours.• Refrain from strenuous exercise for 24 hours.• Avoid excessive sun or heat for 72 hours.• Apply a cool compress if swelling occurs, 15 minutes each hour as needed.• Sleep face-up with your head slightly elevated to reduce swelling.• Postpone dental procedures for 2 weeks.• Wait at least 2 weeks before other facial treatments (facials, massages, lasers, or microdermabrasion).• Any remaining Restylane syringes will be held for 8 weeks for touch-ups if necessary.
