This antique Caucasian Shahsavan Jajim wool textile is a striking example of nomadic weaving tradition, featuring a dense array of vertical stripes in rich, earthy tones. Handwoven from naturally dyed wool, the textile displays a harmonious interplay of crimson, rust, ochre, walnut brown, and charcoal black, arranged in narrow alternating bands that create a rhythmic, almost meditative effect. Jajims like this were traditionally produced by Shahsavan tribes in the South Caucasus region, often used as bed covers, wraps, or tent dividers. The flatweave structure and precise striping reflect both functional durability and refined aesthetic sensibility, embodying the resourceful elegance of tribal craftsmanship. This piece offers a timeless textile statement suitable for both rustic and minimalist interiors.
Authentic vintage and antique Caucasian textiles are hand-woven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique.
Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these textiles, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects.
Our textiles are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life.
