Although they have been around for centuries, it’s only been within the past 20 years that these rugs have become popular.
They\'re now seen in dens, music rooms and eclectically designed living rooms.
In Afghanistan, a man named Khal Mohammed was responsible for reintroducing these dark coloured chrome dyed rugs. He started a small industry among the Turkoman people, who lived in the northern region.
He supplied the Turkoman people with the tools and resources needed to weave the rugs and in turn, he bought the carpets from them. Throughout the trade, these rugs became known as “Khal Mohammedi” or “Khalmahmadi”..
These carpets are made from Ghazni wool. Ghazni wool comes from the Ghazni mountain range, located west of Kabul.
It is hand spun, very fine, and offers unparalleled quality.
These rugs will bring a warmth and richness to nearly any interior decor, while enduring for many generations to come.
