Detailed information on Kimorigaki Ceramic Candle

\"Kimorigaki\" is the traditional custom of leaving a few persimmons at the end of the harvest, hoping that the persimmons will grow well next year.Β The top and middle notes are fruity scents that bring together the fragrances of persimmon and other fruits, while the bottom note is a musk and cedarwood scent reminiscent of a wintry landscape.

The ceramic vessel is handmade in Shigaraki, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, just over the mountains northeast of Nara. The gradation-like glaze of white and dark on the container expresses the appearance of snow falling and piling up in the middle of winter when the harvest of persimmons is finished. Each one is unique. Vessels are meant to be reused and can be made new with a candle refill, sold separately.

Each candle comes packaged in a beautiful paper box, perfect for gifting.

Huukyou was founded in Nara in 2022 by two young designers seeking to capture the lost spirit of Japan, reuniting its unique nature and culture. Business partners Yoichi Yoshikawa and Kota Mori hope to achieve this through a series of home objects that embody Japanese sensibilities both ancient and modern.
