Detailed information on Oued Zem Neutral Boujad

This rug was handwoven by artisans in Oued Zem.

Oued Zem is nestled in the Middle Atlas Mountains just north of the village of Boujad, the namesake of this weaving style.

Boujad rugs tend to have undyed sheep’s wool for its base and vibrant colors used for the design elements.

The design motifs most commonly used in Boujad rugs tend to represent geometric shapes, abstract forms and at times symbols that have been passed down through generations.

The weave is less dense than the Beni M\'rirt or Beni Ourain rug as there is more space between knots. Despite the difference in density, it’s still just as cozy and soft.
