Mattress Thickness and Platform Beds

Platform beds without box springs work best with mattresses that are at least 10 inches thick. Thinner mattresses can make the bed feel too low and may not provide enough comfort buffer above the platform surface. Most quality foam, latex, and hybrid mattresses today are 10 to 14 inches, which is ideal for a platform setup.
