The finish that was applied has kept the wood strong (no rot or warping) over the years. This is a testament to how well-built the chairs are. They have lasted for the past 60 - 80 years, and will last another century.

Lovely, garden chairs salvaged from an old farmhouse in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The chairs have solid metal frames (steel or iron) and solid, maple wood slats which form the seats, backrests, middle stretcher and base-boards.The chairs have a very unique design; Each wooden slat is bolted into the metal frame on the back. The chairs are also very comfortable to sit on!All 3 chairs are in great structural condition, but do have small nicks and light scratches here and there--typical wear for chairs this old. However, there are no serious flaws like breaks, gouges, rot, or warp. Our carpenter inspected each chair and didn\'t need to repair, or reinforce anything! The chairs are ready for another lifetime of service!
