Our black lacquer table is an updated version in the same style as the original kang tables, but made slightly larger to be more practical as a modern day coffee table.
It shows a number of classic features of Chinese tables through the centuries, including the \'horse hoof\' style feet, \'waisted\' top and the \'S\' shaped stretchers between the legs.
Low level tables and other furniture were used throughout northern China, where they would be placed on the \'kang\' - a heated platform of brick or earth that formed the main living area, and used to serve tea and other refreshments.
