Stellar (stĕl′ər), derived from the Latin word ‘Stellaris,’ means ‘relating to, involving, or resembling a star or stars, or comparable with stars in terms of beauty and quality.’ In this context, it represents a timeless design intended for daily use, where its stellar lines serve both functional and aesthetic purposes.

The shape of Stellar is rooted in childhood memories, drawing inspiration from the comfort of traditional wooden school chairs from the 1950s. It reinvents these humble, utilitarian materials into a 21st-century stackable monoblock plastic chair. The strong lines, reminiscent of modern fighter planes and military decorations, are recontextualized to create a peaceful, inviting, and multi-functional design.

The star-like, triangular volumes on the rear and bottom parts highlight the load-bearing function of these structures and create a pleasing aesthetic contrast with the soft and welcoming ergonomics of both the seat and backrest. Stellar is crafted from delicately textured glass fiber-reinforced polypropylene and is available in five different colors: white, black, light grey, anthracite, and mint green.

Simone ViolaBorn in Switzerland in 1985, Simone Viola got his industrial design training in Milan and went on to gain experience in his native country and abroad. Once founding his design studio in 2011, he focused on furniture and accessory design projects.
