An ultimately elegant piece, the V&H Bertram Etagere, comes in a light gray straight grain cerused oak or a natural bleached cerused oak with one hand-cast brushed brass drawer pull and sabot details. The shelving unit has one drawer for hidden storage and four open shelves for displaying decorative objects or books. Each shelf’s veneer top is chevron-patterned: carefully selected and laid by hand to highlight the oak grain’s intricate markings. The posts are hand-carved, made of quarter-sawn solid oak, and expertly sanded to taper with double-sided coving. Notice the coving detail carried to the bottom of each shelf. Float it in a room—as all sides of V&H furniture are finished—or nestle it up against a wall with decorative bookends to act as a library. The delicate craftsmanship in the Bertram Collection—like the chevron-pattern oak grain or the coved details—give each piece a light, elegant presence.
