Opalized Petrified Wood is a fascinating geological phenomenon where the original wood structure is replace by opal, a mineral composed of hydrated silica.  The term \"wood opal\" refers to the opalized wood, where the wood\'s organic structure has been replaced by opal. This process, while similar to regular petrified wood formation, results in a unique material with potentially blue or other colors. The opal replaces the wood cells, preserving the original wood\'s structure and patterns. 

Petrified Wood is classified as a fossil. The wood originates from trees that lived during the Miocene era, about 20 million years ago, in an ancient forest in Indonesia.  Essentially, the material is wood with its biological components replaced by minerals: mostly silica but sometimes fluorite, pyrite, or calcite.
