Labradorite

Labradorite owes its name to the Canadian Labrador Peninsula, where it was first discovered in 1770. Because of its iridescent colors, the stone is not only used as an ornament in magnificent buildings; many works of art and magnificent jewelry are also made from labradorite. Iridescent like a magnificent peacock feather, labradorite is a very special stone.

Labradorite forms either magmatically in dunite, gabbros, basalt and anorthosite or metamorphically in amphibolite.


A now rare gemstone, labradorite (also called spectrolite) is a colorful lucky charm. It often combines many colors and shimmers in numerous facets. It is a stone that should not be used in combination with others.
