Tasting Notes: fresh cut greens, marine, brothy, sweet

Description: Sencha is a vibrant green tea from Japan that has the perfect balance of briskness and sweetness. This tea has a brothy taste with rich notes of marine life such as seaweed and hints of steamed edamame, brussel sprouts, and fresh cut greens. A premium green tea that reveals a satisfying umami (pleasant savory taste)  with no astringency or bitterness. Smooth and addicting!

Sencha is premium tea that is grown in full sun and harvested in the early spring during the first flush season of April/May. Over 80% of the tea produced and consumed in Japan is sencha.

Sencha was first produced in Uji, the outskirts of Kyoto, in the 18th century. It is now currently produced in many parts of Japan. Our sencha hails from tea gardens in the Kawane region in the Shizuoka prefecture which is the major tea producing region near Mt. Fuji.

Ingredients: light-medium steamed green tea from Shizuoka, Japan

Steep Time: steep 1 heaping teaspoon of tea per 8 oz below boiling water, 160-175°F, for 45 seconds to 2 minutes
