Hand-picked in the Gokashō area of Uji by a sixth-generation, award-winning tea farmer, this extremely limited Samidori matcha represents the heart of Japan’s oldest matcha tradition. Their family has crafted tea since the Edo period, cultivating fields along the Uji River using time-honoured Uji methods — under-cover growing and natural-style farming.

Harvested only once a year in spring, each leaf is carefully picked, steamed, dried, shaped, and ground slowly on a stone mill. The result is a vibrantly green matcha with a deep, rich aroma and a smooth, calming umami unique to Uji’s native varieties.

Best enjoyed pure — as koicha or usucha — to experience its gentle, peaceful character.
