Experience what twelve years of patient aging can create: a raw pu-erh that has transcended the sharp edges of youth to emerge as something remarkably smooth, sweet, and deeply aromatic.
Part of the magic of Xiaguan lies in its location on the historic Tea-horse Caravan Route. Like the merchants of long ago, carrying tea by horse all over China and beyond, Xiaguan Tea Factory has been crafting compressed teas since the early 20th century. Xiaguan, located in Dali, Yunnan, has long served as a vital transportation hub and commercial center in western Yunnan. Its strategic position made it a tea distribution hub and a key site for processing compressed tea.
This particular tea tells the story of patience. In approximately 2012, tea masters at Xiaguan selected premium big tree material from the legendary Yiwu tea region—a town with a long history of Pu\'er production, having been cherished as a source for imperial court tea by government officials, and one of the main origin points of the ancient tea horse road. Rather than rushing the tea to market, they entrusted it to the unique conditions of Dali\'s high plateau.
Dry storage refers to storing tea leaves in a clean and dry place at a moderate temperature. The ventilated space allows the tea leaves to transform and age slowly and naturally. The Dali plateau, with its clean mountain air and moderate humidity, provides ideal conditions for this gradual evolution. Dry storage is preferred by those who want to experience the most authentic expression of a Puerh tea\'s life. It is about preserving and slowly developing the tea\'s original character and terroir. Instead of forcing rapid change, it lets the tea mature gracefully over decades.
After twelve years of quiet transformation, the tea material was finally shaped into dragon pearls in 2024—a format that honors both tradition and modern convenience. Dragon Balls are easy to carry, making them ideal for travel or gifting. Like other forms of Pu-erh tea, Dragon Balls can be aged to develop more complex flavors over time. Each pearl represents a single-session promise: consistent quality, predictable dosing, and the full expression of what aged Yiwu can offer.
This tea represents over a decade of careful aging—time that cannot be rushed or replicated. Each 160g box contains approximately 20 perfectly portioned dragon pearls, enough for dozens of tea sessions. Secure your box of this limited 12-year aged Yiwu treasure before experienced collectors claim the remaining stock.
