Taiping Houkui translates to Monkey King, however no monkeys were harmed in the picking of this tea! Folklore has it that trained monkeys would pick tea leaves from hard to reach trees hanging off cliffs. A winner at the Panama Pacific Exposition in 1915, Taiping Monkey\'s Pick is characterized by its long, flat leaves with a waffle-like pattern from drying on linen or bamboo mats. It’s also considered one of the top ten teas in China.
