I’m learning to master the art of becoming a little tree—sitting still, blending into my surroundings, and patiently waiting for a little birdie to come close. Since the day I captured my first photo of a mountain bluebird, I’ve been completely enchanted by the process of capturing these little creatures.

They are works of art—so colorful, so full of delicate details—and seeing them for the first time through my viewfinder always leaves me in awe. These little friends, who seem to have endless personality, have become my teachers. They remind me of the beauty of stillness, of waiting, and of God’s incredible artistry in every little feather.

As I sit there, waiting for one of them to appear, I can’t help but give thanks to the Lord for bringing us to Pinedale. The excitement I feel when one shows up is overwhelming—though I do my best to contain it, knowing sudden movements could send them flying. Patience has become my greatest lesson. Everything in nature comes at the right time, and it’s about savoring each moment as it happens.

Making eye contact with a bird is a spiritual experience—it’s an adrenaline rush, yet it brings a calm peace that fills my soul.
