I’m learning the art of becoming a little tree—sitting still, blending into the landscape, and waiting patiently for a little birdie to come close. These moments are my intimate conversations with nature. Since I captured my first photo of a mountain bluebird, I’ve been completely captivated by the process of photographing these little creatures.

They are true marvels—so wonderfully perfect, so full of color and detail. Every time I see one for the first time through my viewfinder, I’m in awe. These little friends have become my teachers, offering lessons in stillness and patience. They are a reminder that God is the greatest artist, crafting every feather with incredible precision and beauty.

While I wait for my next feathered friend to appear, I find myself giving thanks for the opportunity to be here in Pinedale, immersed in such beauty. When one finally shows up, my excitement is overwhelming. I have to remind myself to stay calm, moving slowly, so I don’t startle them away. Patience has been the greatest lesson nature has taught me: everything comes at the right time, and it’s about savoring each precious moment.

Making eye contact with these birds is a profound experience. It’s an adrenaline rush, yet it also fills me with a peaceful calm.
