mezawa Manor in Sagami Province, by late Edo era artist Katsushika Hokusai, depicts a dream-like scene: five cranes rest peacefully on a long, mist-enshrouded slope of Mount Fuji, while another two take flight toward the mountain. The scene is framed on both sides by a finely detailed sharkskin pattern used in kimonos, creating a cloud-like effect.
