Bay Colony Antiques is proud to offer for sale this fantastic pair of 18th century antique Mahogany Salem MA dining chairs. We’ve attached a picture from Sack’s Fine Points of Furniture showing a nearly identical splat pattern from a Salem MA cabinet making shop. Salem was one of America’s most prolific cabinet making cities and was home to over 100 cabinet shops by the turn of the 19th century. The chairs have a desirable heart and diamond pattern on the splats. The chairs have a Cupid’s bow crest rail with a lobed center. The seats have an interlaced design and are in relatively good condition with some loose fabric on the right chair. The chairs have slip seats that can be easily removed and should only cost about $20 a seat after you purchase the fabric. The frames are in great condition with our only notes being minimal surface wear & an old restoration to one of the crests. The chairs measure 20 3/4” wide x 18 3/4” deep x 38 1/2” tall with an 18” seat height.
