Why Pocket Coils Help with Temperature

All-foam mattresses trap heat because there\'s no airflow through the core. The Cool Breeze uses pocket coils as its support layer, which means there are open channels running through the mattress body. Air circulates. Heat doesn\'t accumulate the same way it does in a dense foam block. The Cool Max fabric at the surface is engineered to wick moisture and release heat faster than standard knit covers. The gel layer adds a third mechanism: phase-change material that draws warmth away from the body surface. Three cooling mechanisms working together, not just one.

The honest note: put a thick, non-breathable mattress protector on top and you block the Cool Max surface and reduce the effect. A thin, moisture-wicking protector gives you the hygiene protection you need without sacrificing the temperature performance you\'re paying for.

Cool Max fabric is a polyester microfibre engineered for high moisture transport. It moves sweat away from the skin surface 50% faster than standard cotton and releases it into the air, which contributes to a drier, cooler sleep environment. The same technology is used in performance athletic wear.

The Cool Breeze as a Daily Driver

Pocket coils give the Cool Breeze characteristics that all-foam mattresses can\'t match: bounce, more defined edge support, and more consistent pressure response across body weights. The medium-firm feel works well for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. Side sleepers of average weight typically find it comfortable; lighter side sleepers sometimes prefer a softer foam option. A note about cooling: Cooling mattress technology helps diffuse and manage body heat, but it is not an air conditioner. Gel layers, copper infusions, and airflow-promoting coils can reduce heat buildup compared to traditional foam, but they will not make you feel cold. If you sleep very hot, pair a cooling mattress with breathable sheets and a bedroom temperature around 18°C for best results.
