Historical uses of rose and rose oil date back to 700 A.D. when rosewater was distilled by Arabs and Berbers of Morocco. Romans wore roses to protect themselves against drunkenness. During the Middle Ages roses were grown in monastery gardens for their medicinal uses.

Uses of Rose Absolute

• Add a few drops to skin care or body products for hydration and to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sensitive skin.


• Diffuse in a water-based diffuser or vaporizer to improve the scent of a room, and to calm nerves. This is especially effective for women.


• Mix 2 drops of Rose Absolute, 4 drops Fennel and 4 drops Sweet Orange to 4 teaspoons of carrier oil (such as Safflower or Apricot Kernel) and massage on the abdomen to help balance mood swings.


• When dealing with grief or sadness take a warm, relaxing aromatic bath with 4-8 drops Rose Absolute oil.

History and Background

Rose oil was first distilled from rosewater by the Arabs in 700 A.D. The oil was highly revered by the ancient Greeks, Romans and was used throughout the Middle Ages for various remedies. Rose oil was an ingredient in the first cold cream recipe recorded by a Greek physician.

In Chinese medicine, cool/moist action, fire element, clears heat and inflammation, restores yin energy, cools and regulates hot, stagnant Liver conditions, stagnant Qi and blood conditions, gentle tonic for Heart Qi.

Helps heal emotional wounds, restores self-love, boosts confidence and self esteem, self-nurturing, soothes emotions such as shock or grief, and trust to love again, loneliness.

farnesol, geraniol, citronellal, nerol, linalol, rhodeol, sesqueterpene alcohols, esters, damascacenone. Fifteen percent of chemical constituents have not been identified.
