Each stick is crafted on the Japanese island of Awaji, birthplace of the world’s finest incense. Master Koh-shis — artisans of aroma for over a thousand years — blend natural woods, herbs, and resins; knead the aromatic dough by hand; cut it into slender ribbons; and dry them for days in the island’s west wind.
