The art of filigree, an intricate metalworking technique, has a fascinating history spanning over 5,000 years. The oldest known filigree artifacts were discovered in Mardin, Mesopotamia, dating back to 3000 BC. Phoenician merchants carried the technique across the Mediterranean, eventually reaching what is now modern Spain.
