HOT ! Antique Scarlet Pendaflex Tin Bangle

I recently scored some of the metal bars that had been stripped from Pendaflex file folders. It’s what I love about our local creative reuse center—they know that it’s way better to upcycle most materials than it is to try to recycle them.

Once back it the studio I quickly realized these were the perfect rigidity for making narrow cuffs and bangle bracelets, which is hard to do in just tin alone. The tin is too thin and flexible to work when it’s this narrow.

These cuffs use a strip of tin lid edge that has been hand patterned and the riveted to the upcycled steel strip and all the edges are filed and finished smooth.

This cuff is 8.5” long, making it suitable for fitting over most hands. The finished bracelet is a little over .375” (8mm) wide.

All adaptive reuse pieces come to you neatly and sustainably wrapped ready for gift-giving.
