The Montreal Royals were a minor league baseball team that played in Montreal, Quebec, from 1897-1917, and 1928 to 1960. The team was a key part of the Brooklyn Dodgers\' farm system, and in 1946, the Royals made history by being the team where Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era, debuted in the International League. Robinson\'s time with the Royals helped pave the way for his groundbreaking integration into MLB.
