TOHAKU is an homage to the pine trees of Nanao City, the childhood home of Tohaku Hasegawa, one of the most famous painters in Japan. Tohaku candles are made with clean-burning sumac wax, which releases less soot and odor when extinguised because of its plant-based composition. The wick, which is thicker than traditional western wicks, is made of washi paper, rush weed, and silk fibers, and yields a bigger and brighter flame. These candles fit in the KOMA Candle Holders.
