Detailed information on Karatachibana single hairpin

This is a luxurious wooden shaft hairpin with a motif of the Karatachibana (Chinese orange), a plant that bears red fruit, and made with plenty of carnelian.

The rich red and lustrous carnelian gems, resembling the fruit of a tangerine, are arranged in a cluster of bells, varying in size. Inside the fruit, a single bell, like a game of hide-and-seek, tinkles with a subtle tinkling sound. The two polished leaves sparkle in the light, highlighting the black wooden stem and the subdued color of the carnelian. Two chains and carnelian gems hang from the bottom of the fruit, swaying gracefully when inserted. The long, non-slip wooden stem makes it easy to style even thick hair with just one chain. The simple design makes it easy to coordinate with other kanzashi, creating a charming look in both Japanese and Western styles.

Designer\'s thoughts
This hairpin features the Karatachibana (Chinese tangerine) as its motif. Karatachibana was an extremely expensive plant during the Edo period, and because it could not be purchased for less than 100 ryo, it was also called \"Hyakuryokin\" (100 ryo gold). It is also the origin of the auspicious plant names like Manryo (10,000 ryo) and Senryo (1,000 ryo). Karatachibana itself is an auspicious plant, and its flower language includes \"wealth\" and \"property.\" This Karatachibana is expressed using carnelian. Carnelian represents \"strengthened motivation\" and \"self-realization,\" making it the perfect stone for starting something new. It is filled with the hope that those who are about to take a courageous step forward will find their path headed in a positive direction.
