This is a traditional hairpin called \"Kichicho Kanzashi\" made from cow bone horn and carved with a flower diamond pattern.
The simplest and most basic form of kichicho, with only an ear pick attached, is the most standard of classical kanzashi. On the other hand, it is also associated with courtesans, as the image of a courtesan wearing many kichicho is akin to that of a courtesan. While married women and geisha had rules regarding the number of kichicho they could wear, it is said that the more kichicho a courtesan wore, the higher their status was. This kichicho kanzashi is carved with the traditional Hanabishi pattern, creating a charming finish. Made from natural oxbone horn, each pattern is unique, with a tortoiseshell-like sheen and shine, giving it a luxurious feel. Its thickness and durability make it easy to wear even with long hair, and it can be worn alone. It easily pairs with other kanzashi, creating a charming look in both Japanese and Western styles. Its low static electricity makes it perfect for both Japanese hairstyles and everyday wear.
Designer\'s thoughts This is a wargo original Kichicho Kanzashi, a famous Oiran hairpin with a carved hanabishi (diamond diamond) design. Oiran hairpins, which were believed to be a sign of status based on how many luxurious accessories they wore, were usually made from genuine tortoiseshell, and were so luxurious that it was said that the accessories worn above the face were enough to build a house. By crafting this hairpin using ox bone horn, we have been able to revive it in modern times as a hairpin that can be worn casually while still retaining its atmosphere and luxury. This is a hairpin that can be worn casually not only for Japanese hairstyles at coming-of-age ceremonies and weddings, but also for everyday use.
