Detailed information on Vintage Corcoran Black Jump Boots Size: 8.5 #2

For your consideration is a pair of black Corcoran brand paratrooper jump boots in size 8.5 D.  They are in used, very good condition.  The leather is supple and without cracks.  The soles have many miles left to go.

Based on the sole, the label and markings, I believe these were made in the 1970\'s.

The jump boot is another classic of functional military clothing design.  While they are now largely thought of as dress uniform or parade boots, these are actually serious and very functional field boots.  They were designed during WWII to provide substantial protection and support for paratroopers.  The leather is stiff and thick for that reason.  With twelve holes and a ten inch height, they are also tall (even for combat boots).  They were highly coveted as both a status symbol, and as practical field footgear.  Originally made in russet brown, paratrooper boots went black along with the rest of the Army\'s footwear in the late 1950\'s.

In my estimation, these are some of the world\'s finest tactical and/or hiking boots.  With care and re-soling, these can last you a lifetime.  They are made in the U.S.A. and the quality is far superior to most commercial boots.  Jump boots are much more durable and practical than modern suede tactical boots.  The smooth, polished leather provides good water resistance.  The stiff leather provides excellent support, but not at the cost of comfort.  When broken in, a good pair of jump boots can feel like muscular moccasins.  The stock paratrooper sole was made without traction so as not to catch on things, either in the staging area, the plane or the drop zone.  If desired, the soles can easily be replaced by a good cobbler with soles that have a more aggressive tread pattern.

*A Note on Size*
In my experience, jump boots fit almost exactly true to size.  That is to say that what your foot measures out to be should be the exact same as the boot.

Please know your combat boot size before ordering.  There are no returns on these.  I am not Amazon or Zappos, and I can\'t afford to ship boots back and forth for the sake of fitting them.
