What is Inubako?

Since ancient times, dog boxes have been widely used as part of a bride\'s dowry and as gifts for Hinamatsuri (Girl\'s Day), and are considered to be talismans that bring happiness to women.

The small boxes are in the shape of a pair of dogs, male and female, each modelled after a baby\'s face. Dogs are symbols of safe childbirth and fertility, and puppies are expected to grow up strong and healthy, so they were displayed as talismans to pray for safe childbirth and good health for the infant.

In the past, the dog facing left (when facing right) was a male dog, and a charm for safe childbirth was placed inside, and the dog facing right (when facing left) was a female dog, and a toy was placed inside. Nowadays, it is used as a unique gift for weddings, the first festival, etc.
