HOT ! Map of Africa Rug

Overview:

This is a contemporary tableau from our artisan partners in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. They took a stab at weaving a rug in homage to Africa, and it came out looking so good! Their rugs often offer surprising twists on traditional weaving styles and this rug is no different, combining two different techniques into one beautiful composition. The light green section is handknotted, featuring a low pile that is densely woven together. And Africa, in the interior, is woven using the Akhnif flatweave and embroidery method. When you get close, you notice that the entire continent of Africa is embroidered with small, traditional symbols that are found in the rugs. As a near-perfect square, this rug would be best as a wall-hanging, in an entranceway, or in a kid\'s room (for the tactile experience of it all!). This rug is available to be custom ordered in any size/color combination.
