Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates, lounge chair with ottoman, model 1717-RC and 1841-O, fabric by Pierre Frey, walnut, brass, United States, 1960s The Havana set, designed by Adrian Pearsall, consists of a chair and matching ottoman, displaying a cohesive design characterized by rounded, organic forms. The chair features a barrel-shaped backrest that curves smoothly around the seat, creating a continuous, enveloping silhouette. Wooden accents at the ends of the backrest add a striking contrast, breaking the otherwise seamless appearance. The circular seat is generously cushioned for comfort and supported by four tapered walnut legs. These legs are finished with spherical brass casters, contributing a touch of luxury to the design. The ottoman, crescent-shaped to align perfectly with the chair’s round seat, shares the same height for a harmonious pairing. Both pieces are upholstered in an olive green fabric by Pierre Frey. Adrian Pearsall (1925-2011), trained as an architectural engineer, was a sailor and interior designer. In 1952, Pearsall opened his own furniture company \'Craft Associates’. Pearsall designed some of the most sensuous, gracious midcentury design pieces around, sharing many of the design aesthetics by Vladimir Kagan. His pieces are characterized by flamboyant curves, upswept shapes and stretched proportions.
