This is a hand made fabric by the Karen or Karian ethnic group of Thailand and Burma. It is hand woven on a traditional back-strap loom with cotton colored using natural, organic, vegetable dyes. This is a more expensive and time-consuming process than using chemical dyes but results in the enchanting character and soft hues of the colors you see in the photos.Because of the narrow size of a back-strap loom (narrow to fit the size of the weavers back), the fabric width is correspondingly narrow and this runner is constructed of two separate lengths of fabric hand sewn together in the middle.The dimensions are 81 inches long x 23 inches wide per side and without the fringe. The item is new but some anomalies and aberrations in handwoven, jungle village items are normal and should be expected.
