For centuries, famed Hida artisans in Gifu prefecture have played a role in Japan\'s woodworking culture, crafting iconic bentwood furniture from sustainable local forests. Established in 1920, Hida Sangyo builds upon the Japanese heritage of craftsmanship and sustainability from their headquarters in Gifu, which remains one of Japan\'s leading furniture production areas. In addition to offering iconic designs from midcentury masters like Sori Yanagi and Enzo Mari, Hida produces contemporary creations from international designers such as Atsuhiko Misawa and atelier oï.

An original design by Toshimitsu Sasaki to match today\'s lifestyle, the \'Wavok\' stool is expertly crafted from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica), a wood that represents Japan throughout the world. The cedar is strengthened by HIDA\'s perfection of a heat compression process and the stool is then hand shaped using a plane and sandpaper prior to being sealed.

Price per item. Available to order in unlimited quantities in choice of oiled natural oak finish or a dark stain finish, please specify when ordering. Please note that the wood\'s grain, color and features vary from item to item due to the organic nature of the material. 

Every item is made to order with an approximate production lead time of 6-7 weeks, depending on the piece. Lead times can change without notice. Please contact us for current lead times prior to placing time-sensitive orders.

SHIPPING NOT INCLUDED: In order to facilitate the most accurate shipping quote on Hida pieces, the buyer will be invoiced directly by Hida for the actual shipping cost once ordered items have been fabricated. Buyer is responsible for all customs duties, fees and import taxes as well as the removal and disposal of packing materials. Please note that items must ship from Hida’s workshop in Japan, so local pickup is not available. Shipment insured through carrier only. Two Enlighten is not liable for any claims.
