The Coco Dining Chair is part of the Coco Collection, designed by OEO Studio with focus on charismatic signature design that offers a high level of comfort. The chair borrows refer- ences to the industrial simplicity, fashion and the Bauhaus, but the inspiration of the design comes from a desire to create a simple yet elegant chair with minimal use of materials and tools without compromising the design and character.
The design also allows the Coco Dining Chair to be both playful and loud to more sophisti- cated and elegant, which gives the chair an almost human character, makes it highly recognizable, enhances its uniqueness and makes it easy to implement in both private homes as well as restaurants, cafes etc.
Originally designed in response to a self-initiated challenge by a studio known for working in wood, the Coco Chair by OEO Studio is an exercise in reduction, using tubular steel to create the simplest possible chair frame. The newest version of the Coco Dining Chair stacks up to 10 high, making it perfect for dynamic spaces - and its Level 2 certification gives it the durability to handle even the most demanding environments.
The whole structure is lightweight enough to be moved easily making it highly functional as well as elegant. The understated and yet playful two-piece design of the Coco Collection fits into any interior and offers endless options for upholstery in two tones or one, so you can make it your own. A sculptural seat and backrest add a welcoming and human feel, and a collection is born, and named \'Coco\' after its distinctive feminine silhouette.
OEO Studio\'s Head of Design and Founding Partner, Thomas Lykke (b. 1971) trained as a fashion designer in Copenhagen and San Francisco before moving into the design industry as Interiors Editor at Wallpaper* Magazine 2000-2003. He established OEO Studio with Managing Partner Anne-Marie Buemann in Copenhagen in 2003, and the pair subsequently opened a project office in Tokyo, Japan.
